This means that your home can still be powered by the sun even when it is dark out.
There are smaller options for beginning with solar power. This is accomplished in one of two ways. Lost in Suburbia: My 2017 holiday newsletter Dec 27, 2017 at 12:50 PM Dec 27, 2017 at 12:50 PM After receiving so many scintillating holiday newsletters this year, I wanted to chime in with our humble family news! First of all, our kids are doing great! You know our son has taken up the electric guitar? He got so good after six months that he actually opened for the Rolling Stones when they played the Garden, and from that ONE performance he is being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We are so proud! Unfortunately, he will miss the induction ceremony because he will be running with the bulls in Pamplona at that time. Our daughter has been busy, too. She decided to take a break from triathalons and make this the year she was going to conquer the seven summits (the highest peaks on the seven continents)! She got through six of them when an avalanche partially uncovered a 2000-year old city buried under Mount Aconcagua. Her group decided to delay their climb up the seventh peak so they could excavate the city, alone, by hand, with plastic spoons, for five months, until archaeologists could reach the site. What a thrill that was for her! We all had a fantastic time on our vacation this summer! While we were following the Emperor Penguins on their migration across the Antarctic, we discovered a frozen caveman that they say is the missing link between men and apes! It was quite an exciting discovery. “Adam” will be on display at the Smithsonian for a month in April.
College 'generally pleased' with decision Saturday, December 30, 2017 8:51:21 EST AM Colin Kirkwood, vice-president academic at Sault College. Sault College administrative leaders are “generally pleased” with an arbitrator's decision to settle a contract dispute with Ontario college faculty. Professors, instructors, counsellors and librarians were on strike for five weeks before being legislated back to work in November. The decision, announced in late December, includes a 7.75 per cent raise over four years for faculty, one-time payments of $900 for each full-time faculty member and $450 for every partial-load employee. “The award itself looks reasonable,” Janice Beatty, vice-president of student services, told Sault College's board of governors during a meeting on Dec. 21. “It looks like something we can manage and live with, so we were generally pleased.” She told the board “there aren't a lot of significant changes” in the decision with wage increases that were “on the table” during negotiations and “minor language changes.” “The language looks, to me, very similar to the language that the college has had prior to the award,” said Beatty. “It's something that we think is reasonable and we're confident we can live with it.” Vice-president academic Colin Kirkwood told governors college brass are “looking forward to just moving forward. “We're anxious to get back to providing the services that the students are here for,” he said. Classes ended Dec. 22 for the Christmas break. The fall semester ends mid-January. The strike prompted 255 Sault College students to withdraw from their studies. They received full tuition refunds, but no credit for work done during the fall term. Sault College now wants to get those students back in the classroom.
